This plan to discharge mine effluent into Quesnel Lake perhaps forever is absolutely despicable.
Yet there is hardly anyone raising their voice against it except for the people who live on or near the lake.
The mine and the government are degrading the water quality of the lake ... a huge once pristine lake close to Williams Lake and Quesnel yet the people just say: “we need the jobs.”
It’s not even about jobs. It’s about taking the cheapest course of action to rid mine effluent from the Mount Polley Mine.
We need a “Standing Rock” here.
We are allowing corporations to kill us, pollute our precious water, kill our fish, destroy our environment and we stand by and say nothing.
Unbelievable!
