Japan crisis teaches us about helping others

Dear friends and Rotarians in the world.

Thank you very much for your stimulating letter. Although we had a tragic disaster like we have never experienced, we are doing the best for everything we can do.

This crisis gives us great sorrow. We have no words affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Many people who suffered this disaster died or lost their homes. It was a grievous disaster. We all are in deep sorrow. We prepared for the earthquake and tsunami because of living in Japan, but it was larger than our expectation.

It was far too big to prevent a tsunami. It was dreadful. It is like hell near the seaside after it happened. We (D2530) are now in big fear due to the problem of the nuclear power plants.

One Rotarian, who is the assistant governor 2010-11 in our district, is working on the front line to relieve our minds and bring back to normal the nuclear energy.

We all trust him and pay one’s respects to him.

He said, “I must do it. I am a Rotarian!”

This crisis teaches us important things again. Those are water, electricity, gas, petrol … helping each other; love and the strength of human beings. We pray all will be safe. Thanks, thanks so much for Rotary friendship and the bonds of Rotary.
With love to Rotarians and people of the world,

Hiroji Ohashi,

D2530 Governor
