Rodeo time is always an exciting time here in Williams Lake, and we are looking forward to all of the action-packed events that will thrill the attendees and participants at this four-day event.

Rodeo action starts a 6 p.m. tonight at the Stampede Grounds, where the 2010 Stampede Royalty will also pass over their crowns to 2011 Queen Davana Mahon and Princesses Bobi Bracewell and Alexia Colton. Congratulations to all three young ladies who will surely make this community proud.

In addition to rodeo events that also take place Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, don’t forget to check out the many other fun happenings in the lakecity over the next few days: Canada Day celebrations take place in Boitanio Park Friday, and a skate board competition will be held at the Nathan Mathews Memorial Skate Park. There will also be a Stampede Parade, Street Party, and an arm wrestling competition on Saturday, as well as numerous other events between Thursday and Sunday, including the Rustlers rugby tournament, events at Thunder Mountain Speedway, pancake breakfasts, barbecues, Kids Night, karaoke, the barn dance, and live entertainment at the Let R Buck Saloon.

Kudos to all of the volunteers who have been working hard on preparations for the Stampede and other activities, and who will be working even harder over the next few days to make everything run smoothly.

See you all out there — rain or shine.
