Thank you for your article on HST. It affirmed that I really am not suffering from early old timers.
I began worrying about this ailment when I could not find any luxury items (caviar, Belgium chocolate, or French soaps) that I surely must have bought from the amount reflected on my grocery slips.
A trip to the local food emporiums is truly “yes sir, yes sir, two bags full” … and (in leaving) “a pocket full of wool.”
Realization came in a blinding flash!
The governments allow us to eat without added taxes in order to keep us “cash cows” alive and paying.
All other necessities for a reasonable life in modern western society such as cleaning supplies, baby and feminine hygiene products and even toilet paper are taxed.
How silly of me not to realize that every time I relieve myself, the governments relieve me.
Surely, such a basic life function should be at no extra cost.
To me, refunding every B.C. resident $350 in “relief” payment would be a job well done.
