Justin Trudeau has stepped down, as requested by many, and now what? He lasted longer than many Canadian PMs. We have a habit of welcoming our leaders as heroes when they’re first elected, then kicking them out after two terms because we’re tired of them.
Years after they’ve gone, historians often find their times in office were pretty good times for Canadians. I truly believe it was Pierre Poilievre’s negativity and constant blaming Trudeau for everything except the weather that helped do him in.
So, who will be next? Some time ago we heard that B.C.’s former Premier Christy Clark was boning up on her French language skills in preparation for a run at the PM ‘s position. As I write this, she’s made one big booboo, but it sounds like she intends to declare. Mr. Poilievre says he doesn’t care who is Liberal leader, he’s running against the “Trudeau” bunch.
We might end up with an untried leader facing the nasty plans of our powerful neighbour. It’s scary.

I’ve just learned I’m a one percenter. It’s a very rare group. According to a recent report, 99 per cent of the people born between 1930 and 1946 (globally) are gone, leaving one per cent (ages 77 to 93) surviving. According to the report, we survivors grew up in the best of times. After the Second World War, the world started getting better. There was no terrorism, no global warming, and technology was making life easier. Something went wrong because these days it seems things are getting worse, not better.

A recent news report told about a feral cat moving in with a domestic pig, and the two becoming good friends and partners. It made me think. Two completely different animals. Compare that to the way we humans welcome immigrants to our territory.
