Congratulations to the 226 young people who graduated from Williams Lake Senior Secondary school in Williams last weekend. I didn’t go to the ceremony, but I did see the parade and it was a good one. From all accounts I heard the ceremony was also a good one. No horses in the parade this year but a goodly number of paraders had bubble guns and the bubbles wafting around the floats was a nice touch. AND it didn’t rain on the parade.
My first great grandchild, Hailey Weir, was one of the graduates.

Three big news stories last week, the seemingly never- ending wildfires, the resignation of David Johnson from his appointment as special rapporteur looking into foreign interference in our government’s affairs, and the new charges facing former US president Donald Trump.
The wildfires will likely have the biggest impact on us. Scientist have been warning for decades about climate change and excessive hot weather but we haven’t listened and now it’s here we aren’t ready for it.
The Opposition parties didn’t like Mr. Johnson’s recommendations regarding what to do about foreign interference, and went on the attack. They blamed Mr. Johnson and Prime Minister Trudeau of bias and anything else they could think of. Let’s hope all parties will use some of the common sense Mr. P is always talking about and come up with a solution to the problem. Nobody’s looking good at the moment.
Then there is Donald Trump’s federal indictments for illegal possession of highly classified government documents. If found guilty, he could go to jail instead of running for president again. None of this is really our business, but we are so close to the USA economically and socially we’ll feel the fallout no matter how it all turns out.
