Williams Lake will be showing off its country roots this week and weekend with several ranching events taking place in the lakecity.
Things will be busy up at the Williams Lake Stockyards where the 79th annual Williams Lake Bull Show and Sale is set to get underway beginning Thursday at 1 p.m.
If you have never seen these magnificent creatures up close before, or met the cattlemen who will be there bidding at the live auction, you may want to mosey down to Cattle Drive, off of Mackenzie Avenue and experience the action for yourself.
As well as the show on Thursday and the bull sale on Friday, there will also be an agriculture display outside the main office where businesses will showcase everything from tractors and side-by-sides to fencing needs and cattle products.
And if that’s not enough Western Heritage for you, there’s also three days of rodeo action with the 26th annual Williams Lake Indoor Rodeo taking place at the arena.
Truckloads of dirt are brought into the arena every year to transform the hockey rink into a full-blown rodeo stage for thousands of appreciative fans.
Each rodeo performance will open with a grand entry by the Wild West Riders as well as the reigning Williams Lake Stampede Queen Cheyleigh Sand, B.C. High School Rodeo Queen Melanie Wintjes and other visiting royalty.
The cowboying skills of many of our finest cowboys will also be on display through the many rodeo events.
And don’t forget there’s live entertainment both Friday and Saturday night with great country performers ready to take to the stage.
