Cariboo ranching a lifeline for community

It can often be overlooked how important our local ranching community is to the livelihood of our region here in the Cariboo-Chilcotin.

It can often be overlooked how important our local ranching community is to the livelihood of our region here in the Cariboo-Chilcotin.

With the calving season approaching quickly, I thought I would take the time to recognize the great contributions the local ranchers make to our community and to British Columbia.

Here in the Cariboo-Chilcotin, ranching is a lifeline and many ranches are third or fourth generation family ranches.

Ranching is a way of life for the businesses, and families of the area wouldn’t have it any other way. The heart and soul of this industry lies right here in our communities and they provide for all of British Columbia.

This past June, the B.C. government celebrated its annual B.C. Beef Day and encouraged local residents to buy locally from the cattlemen and cattlewomen that work so very hard.

I am proud of our hard-working and dedicated Cariboo-based ranchers that contribute so much to our local and provincial economy.

The cattlemen and cattlewomen of B.C. have been producing some of the world’s best beef for decades. So I again encourage you to buy local beef and support B.C.’s ranchers.

I know I am looking forward to the warmer weather and cooking some delicious B.C. beef on the barbecue.I hope you’ll join me.
