William Whitman Banks

April 21, 1941 - April 8, 2010

Bill was born in Halifax, NS on April 21, 1941 to Thomas George MacCauly Banks and Florence Barbra Banks (nee Otto).

Bill left Nova Scotia in the early 1960s to come west to Vancouver with his childhood friend Gordon Aulenback. He trained in California as a ferrier and worked that trade in the lower mainland. Bill moved on to Williams Lake, ranching, driving truck and working as a bylaw enforcement officer for the city of Williams Lake. Finally he moved to Ladysmith on Vancouver Island where he drove bus for Camp Quanoes, drank a lot of coffee, and drove his motorcycle whenever the weather would allow.

How do we write just a few things about a man who traveled this continent and touched the hearts of so many that he met and knew? He always had time for his friends. Bill’s passion for motorcycles facilitated meaningful relationships with many great people. He had a deep appreciation for nature, family, horses, animals of all kinds and a deep love for Jesus.

A generous man, with character, who was a “character”. We will always hold you closely Billy, Uncle Bill, Bill E Goat, Dad, Blue Eyes, Cowboy Bill -- Adios for now.

Bill is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his daughter Charessa Anderson, his sister Christine Banks, and her children Siri, Lindi, Brett, Bliss, Vance and Laurel.
