With sadness we announce the passing of Wayne Thomas Reeves, of Williams Lake, BC. Wayne died peacefully on December 12, 2021 with family by his side. He is survived by his brother James, son Wayne Jr., his daughters Serena and Seanna, and his grandson Drayton, as well as many close nieces and nephews.
Wayne was born in New Westminster, BC on March 11, 1945. He later moved to Terrace, BC with his family where he completed his last years of high school. In 1967 after graduation, Wayne and three friends went on a trip to Mexico for 3 months to enjoy some youthful adventure. While in Terrace, he worked at Skeena Sawmill and later became the assistant manager at the Terrace Credit Union.
Wayne moved to Williams Lake to continue his professional life in the sawmill industry, eventually retiring as Planer Superintendent at Riverside Forest Products in 2003.
Outside of his professional life, Wayne was politically involved. He was elected to the Cariboo Regional District Board in 1987 and served for 6 years, including two years as Chairman of the Board.
Wayne was well known for his dedicated involvement and volunteer contributions to our community. He was a member of the Williams Lake Hospital Board, a volunteer fire fighter with the 150 Mile House Fire Department, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and many other local associations in the area.
Wayne was an avid golfer, and was president of the Williams Lake Golf and Tennis Club for a number of years, the same course he and his brother Jim played at often. Wayne also enjoyed traveling to Arizona to golf the Southern golf courses with his good friend Ric Bennett, one of his friends who accompanied him on the 3 month trip to Mexico in '67, a friendship of 57 years.
Wayne was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 in Williams Lake, serving on the executive as Treasurer until 2020.
The family wishes to thank all who provided extra special care and support to Wayne over the past couple years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne's memory may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139 in Williams Lake.
