March 10, 1949 - July 14, 2018
The family of Wayne Adamson is saddened to announce his unexpected passing. Wayne Douglas Adamson was born in Edmonton, Alberta on March 10, 1949. He was predeceased by his father Frank. He is survived by his mother Val, sister Wendy Domenichelli (Gene), daughter Tegwen Doering (Brian), grandson Emerson, nieces and their children Nicole (Scott), Jenna (Patrick) Lacey (Jeremy), and nephew David Lam (Dominique) and their children. He was a wonderful grandfather "Papa Hippie" to Emerson, loving father to Tegwen and extremely proud of them both. As he was a big kid himself, self proclaiming he never wanted to grow up, he enjoyed watching all the kids he watched grow up create families of their own.

Wayne grew up in Edmonton and attended Eastglen Composite High School. At 22 he took his first cross Canada road trip with a 1972 R75/5 BMW. After that he travelled for about 4 more years visiting in London England, Norway, Israel, some in Northern Africa, and a little in western Asia.

He spent most of his working career at Canada Post in Edmonton, Vancouver, and lastly, Williams Lake, BC. His transfer from Vancouver to Williams Lake in 1979 was to pursue a dream to be a "farmer" on the side and learn to raise chickens.

Tegwen, his pride and joy, was born in 1982. He picked the unique name from one of his customers he delivered mail to. In 1983, he moved the family to Springhouse to learn how to run a farm. As a family they raised chickens, turkeys, sheep, and swine. Wayne started touring again around 1996. He has been on so many trips it is hard to keep track. A special father-daughter trip was when he and Tegwen travelled to Texas and back when she was 15.

Retiring from the Canada Post in 2007, Wayne then sold his house and took a 2 year trip on his motorcycle travelling down to Central and South America, and then onto Australia. You can read about his travels on his blog:wayneadamson@blogspot.com. In 2011, Wayne became a grandfather to Emerson Wayne Doering. They shared so many moments and great times together. Thankful for the time Emerson spent with Papa Hippie, Wayne taught Emerson about Hank Williams Jr, The BeeGees, while also passing on his sense of humour. Papa Hippie truly loved Emerson so much. Emerson says their favourite joke is "What has six wheels and flies? A garbage truck".

Wayne rode many trips across Canada and the US, recently completing one to Tuktoyaktuk, Inuvik and made it to the end of the Dempster Highway. On this last trip he was on his way to visit friends in PEI. He stopped in Kenora, Ontario, July 5th for the night. Knowing something was wrong, he called a cab to go to the ER. After, he was then transferred to St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Although he never woke up, Tegwen, Brian, Emerson, Wendy and Gene were by his side for his hospital stay. After a beautiful sunset, Wayne took his last breath on July 14, 2018 at 6:40 am.

One of his favourite funny quotes: "I don't want a pickle, I just want to ride my motorcycle" https://youtu.be/BvLtNBm1yyA

Please have a coffee, beer or wine in his memory. He wanted to have his ashes spread in New Denver, BC. which will be done at a later date.

In the end, Wayne would have found great humour in knowing that his last travelling adventure would have been with Canada Post, as he was shipped home Priority Post.
