May 13, 1934 - January 13, 2025
In loving memory ~
With heartfelt grief the family would like to announce the passing of Verna Parchomchuk at the age of 90. Our mom, grandma, great grandmother, aunt, sister passed away, January 13, 2025.
Born May 13, 1934, in Dryden Ontario, Verna moved with her family to Vernon, BC in 1949. There she met Nate. In 1954, they were married. Nate was her husband and friend for the next 72 years. In 1962, they moved to the Cariboo and for 17 years owned the Esso gas station at the 150. In 1980, they sold the garage and moved into Williams Lake. She was also a part time resident at their lot on Horsefly Lake.
She loved being outdoors, gardening, picking berries, fishing, camping and being with friends and family. Mom was very competitive playing cards and "marbles" with the family. She won her last game of marbles at the Deni House on Sunday, December 15th.
Verna was a very active member of the community, member of Women's Institute, 150 Mile Community Club, Christian Women's Club, Fall Fair, and Relay for Life and very active in her church, planning interdenominational hymn sings and helping to cater many functions.
We are a large, close-knit family and Mom will be greatly missed by us all.
Verna is survived by husband Nate, children Kathy Shetler (Jim), Don (Audrey), Doug (Rosanne), Brenda McCauley (Gary), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her youngest sibling Linda (Rowat) Duthie, sister in laws Marg, Noelle and Linda Rowat, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Gordon, Jack, Richard and Donald Rowat and grandson Christopher Parchomchuk.
