June 24, 1933 – September 12, 2021
In Loving Memory ~ The family of Theresa Adrienne Kowalski are saddened to announce her passing on September 12, 2021. Theresa was born on June 24, 1933, the oldest of five children born to Wilhelm and Adrienne (nee Marquis) Whitney in Erwood, Saskatchewan. As a young woman, Theresa worked in her parents’ store and it was there she met Louis Kowalski, whom she would later marry.
When Louis relocated to Quesnel, BC, for employment, he encouraged Theresa and her family to move, as well. It was there Theresa and Louis were married on August 14, 1954. Their only daughter Ellen was born in January 1956, in Quesnel. In 1966 they moved to Williams Lake.
Theresa, a friend to many, was a dedicated wife, mother, and proud grandmother. She was an exceptional homemaker, baker, seamstress, and expert at canning and freezing produce from their large garden. A longstanding member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Catholic Women’s League, Theresa was devout in her beliefs and lived her faith, particularly in her kindness to others.
In her youth, Theresa had been unable to complete her high school education due to health problems. Once her daughter was an adult, Theresa returned to high school as a mature student and completed her studies.
Later in life as Theresa suffered dementia, Louis cared for her at home until she eventually required care at the Williams Lake Seniors Village.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents and her brother Robert. She is survived by her husband Louis of 67 years, her daughter Ellen Kowalski, her granddaughter Erin Hickman, sisters Jeannine Belrose, Leonore Scheck, and Yvonne Norn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Williams Lake Seniors Village staff for all their care and dedication.
There will be a Mass said for Theresa Sept. 27 at 6:30 pm.Obituary
