Susan Laverne Clarke was born in Ladner, BC on April 23, 1942. She was raised on a farm there and worked in the fruit and vegetable industry.

Susie moved to Horsefly in 1979 and was a champion of the village from that time on. She helped to found the Horsefly Volunteer Fire Department in 1992 and was a dedicated volunteer for many years. She was a member of various other non-profit organizations over the years.

Gary & Susie Clarke were recognized for all their hard work in the community by being elected Citizens of the Year in 1989. During those years Susie worked on the cattle ranch on Lemon Lake Road and managed Clarke’s General Store with founder Ida Clarke.

If there was a person in need, in the community, Susie was always there with practical gifts to help the family through. Her heart was as big as the great outdoors that she loved.

In her retirement years Susie enjoyed the sun on the deck of the lovely Swiss style post & beam home she and Gary built on Harper’s Lake. Many happy hours were spent maintaining the spacious lawns and gardens there.

Susie passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends and she will be missed by all. No service by request.
