It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanley Ernest McCarthy on June 29, 2021 at the age of 72 after a short bout with cancer. Stan was born in Vancouver on November 10, 1948.
Stan, an automotive mechanic for many years, ran the Texaco station in Williams Lake and later his own shop, Stan's Auto. Stan then worked as an addictions counsellor, and his kind heart and practical approach helped change the lives of many Williams Lake and area residents.
Stan was a founding member of the 150 Mile Volunteer Fire Department during its start up in 1981, he later became Fire Chief and was instrumental in fighting the wildfires in the community in 2017. Stan received the metal of good citizenship in 2019.
Stan had a great sense of humour and a huge heart, he was always willing to help out anyone in need. Stan was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.
Stan was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his loving wife Sally, sister Pat (Mark) Dearing, son Paul McCarthy (Courtney), daughter Leah (Keith) Powell, and grandsons Jonas and Lucas McCarthy.
