Shirley Jean McMillan

Dec. 14, 1926 to May 8, 2013

Shirley Jean McMillan was born Dec. 14, 1926 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She was one of four sisters. Shirley came to the beautiful Cariboo in 1966 after spending her youth and early married years in North Vancouver.

Shirley passed away peacefully, May 8, 2013 at the WL Seniors Village, with family by her side.

Shirley was well known in the community as someone who had a wonderful smile and a positive word for all. She retired from Safeway, to enjoy a full life of traveling, being with family and dancing (her favourite activity, as a result of growing up in the West End of Vancouver, during the big band era).

Shirley is survived by daughter Susan Zacharias (Paul) of WL, sons, Mark Carlson (Dawn) of Kamloops, Michael Carlson (Monique) of Princeton, stepson Shawn McMillan (Dawn) of Kaleden and cherished friend Sharon Coakley of WL, 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

A service for Shirley will be held at the Senior Citizen’s Activity Center on North 4th Ave. in WL at 3 pm on Sat. June 8th, 2013, Pastor Paul Lomavatu will be officiating, reception to follow.

Shirley loved animals and any condolences would be gladly accepted in the form of a donation to the WL SPCA or SPCA of your choice.
