On December 26, 2016 Shirley Dawn Roberts passed away. Born Shirley Gunderson she acquired many more names, amongst which were Mom, Ma, Nana, Grandma, and the lady at the grocery store paying with a cheque.
A woman of character, she managed to be both a Norwegian battle-axe ready to enter a fray with sharp words and strong opinions and a compassionate caregiver with an army of home-made staples and a knack for knowing when the only solution to a problem was a home-made milkshake and a hug.
Shirley moved on to better things surrounded by the people she loved the most and is survived by her children Timothy Roberts, Heather (John) French, Teresa (Glenn) Lambe, Valerie (Ray) Shields, and Owen (Sarah) Roberts and a veritable army of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Shirley's life and mourn her absence will take place on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew's United Church, Rev. Linda McLaren officiating.
