February 19, 1949 - March 11, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of our beloved Sheila - a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother and great grandmother.
Sheila and Chester moved to Williams Lake in 1972 as a newly married couple. For the past forty-seven years, Chester and Sheila have proudly raised their four children: Clayton, Byron, Andrea and their youngest daughter Jennifer while working long hours establishing their business Lake City Glass.
Sheila could always be found sitting behind the service counter answering phone calls and helping Chester arrange his daily tasks. Her two beloved dogs, Eve and Buddy were always nestled on her lap or sleeping nearby. Sheila always gave recognition to the loyalty of their many customers for making their business so successful.
Sheila lived to volunteer and loved her community dearly. She sat on many boards and reigned as president for many of these organizations. One of Sheila's proudest achievements was being one of the original founding members of NOOPA.
A lasting memory of Sheila's love for Chester is the beautiful mural that adorns the outside walls of Lake City Glass. Sheila presented this artwork as a 75th Birthday surprise.
As retirement age approached, Sheila loved the peace and relaxation on board Eagle 5 their beautiful fishing boat that sat anchored in the pristine waters off Bella Coola. Fishing was a passion that Sheila enjoyed, and she wanted her nine grand-children and great grand-children to enjoy as well. Sheila will be missed but remembered forever.
The Mortensen family will be holding an Open House - Saturday May 4th from 9 am - 3 pm at Lake City Glass in honour of remembering Sheila and hope to see her friends and colleagues there. Come and share your fondest memories of Sheila. Snacks and beverages will be served.
