Sharon Lyons
After a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis and cancer, Sharon Fay Lyons passed away peacefully at home into the hands of Jesus Christ our Lord on May 2, 2002 at the age of 54.
Sharon was born October 26, 1947 and is predeceased by her loving parents Telena and John Hunger, her sister Carol and her sister-in-law Margaret.
She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted and caring husband, Don, her daughter, Cindy, her son, Bricin, her son Chris (Niki), and their children Ashleigh and Hayden, daughter Sheri (Dean) and their daughter Autumn.
She will also remain in the hearts of her two sisters and their families: Janice (Dennis) Smith of white Rock and Lori (Albert) Godin of Abbotsford.
She will also be remembered by Don’s mother, Mary, and his brothers and sisters Allen, Bruce (Pat), Irene (Tren) Beeton, Betty (Robin) Bailey, Hazel (Art) Cross, Robert (Mary), Fred (Diane), Douglas (Louise) and all their children.
Sharon married Don in Kamloops, November 2, 1963 at the age of 16. They moved to Williams Lake in July, 1969, where they raised their three children.
Sharon was involved in Sacred Heart Church and in the Catholic Women’s League, the Cursillo movement, the Crisis and Counselling Line and the M.S. Society.
Sharon was confined to her scooter for the last years of her life. When she was diagnosed with cancer in December 2001, she accepted it with courage and dignity. She was grateful to be able to be in her home with the loving care of her family and friends until her last breath.

Prayers were held May 7 at 7 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 8 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 455 Pigeon Avenue, Williams Lake with Pastor Father Tony Ackerman, celebrant, Father Don O’Reilly, co-celebrant from Lumby. Cremation followed.
The family offers special thanks to Dr. Deetlef, Adie and Cathy Hamm, Darlene Pinchbeck, Sharon’s sister, Lori Godin, who nursed Sharon to the end; home care nurses Barb, Carol, Gaye, Sue, Sylvia, Darlene, Erika and Delee; home care workers, Diane, Delores, Maureen, Evelyn, Elenor, Giselle, Shirley and others; hospice workers Dorothy and Chris Hicks, Arlene, Germaine, and Kate; members of the Catholic Women’s League; The Knights of Columbus; and very special friends Genevieve Hogman, Conny Penny, Cathy Barr, and Tiny Crombie, and all the other people too numerous to mention.
