Samuel Hanna
1935-2011
Sam was born in Silver Creek,
B.C. on the 4th of May, 1935,
to William and Edith Moore.
He passed away peacefully in
his sleep at home on the 22nd
of February 2011.
He was predeceased by four
of his children: David, Melissa, Billy, and Shawna; his wife
Margaret Ann “Peggy”, and sister Mildred.
Sam is survived by his best friend and partner Jennifer, his
four children: Gary (Eleanor), Dawn (Kelly), Shirley (Randy),
and Kim (Bert); his eight grandchildren: Ernie (Zoe), Eligh
(Tera), Adam (Roslyn), Keena, Joey, Yvonne, Christopher, and
Kain; also by his seven great-grandchildren: Krystal, Haylie,
Reilly, Ben, Mike, Olive and Nate. He is also survived by his
brothers and sisters: John, Melvin, Isabel, Margaret, Mary
and their families.
In 1963 Sam and Peggy moved to the Cariboo. They lived in
several places and eventually settled with their family on a
ranch at Green Lake.
Sam was a logger, trucker, and rancher. In 1969 he took up the
sport of pony chuck wagon racing. He had a life long passion
for the sport and enjoyed all aspects of it. Sam also enjoyed
being involved with the rodeo community including being a
pick up man and raising bucking bulls. Sam eventually sold
his ranch after the death of his wife Peggy in 2004. He moved
to Lone Butte and then to Gateway where he continued to
ranch and sell hay with Jennifer. Sam will be sadly missed by
all those who knew him.

A Memorial Service will be held at the 100 Mile Community
Hall on the 27th of March, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
