If you asked people from the Cariboo and Chilcotin who Rudy Mueller was, they'd all give you a different story. A darn good ranch hand, Carpenter, Cowboy, Irrigator A superhero and a fantastic family man.
Rudy was all of these things, not to mention, he was a storyteller. From the time I first met Rudy he was constantly telling me an interesting story. We worked together on the Gang Ranch in the early 1960's. One day Rudy approached me and asked if I would join him in a trip to the Chilcotin to pick up Jane, his bride to be. We both left the Gang Ranch in early 60's with an old pickup and travelled to the Chilcotin. Jane his wife to be was very pretty and smart to boot. On the trip back to Clinton Rudy made plans for us to book into the local Frontier Hotel with two rooms. Jane made it very clear to Rudy that only when they were married would he share a room with her. Jane sure had my respect from that day forth that Rudy had to wait. He immediately proceeded to Ashcroft to get married. After they were married Rudy and Jane raised seven beautiful children together. There was Cora, Karl, Ruth, Esther, David, Lisa and Aaron. Who also gave them 13 wonderful grandchildren.
It's no surprise that Rudy's children all turned out well and worked hard all their lives. He truly was a remarkable father and with Jane as a mother you could not go wrong..
Sadly on October 15, at 6:13 pm Rudy left us and is now with his pre deceased lovely wife Jane in a better place.
We will all miss Rudy and his stories that connect us and unite us.
Rest in peace my old cowboy friend.
