It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ruby Sophie Sherwood.

Ruby was born in Meadow Lake Saskatchewan, the middle child of Sophie and Reinhold Walter. She attended school in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Ft. McMurray, Alberta, and Edmonton, Alberta, where she graduated in 1955. Following high school, Ruby moved to Vancouver, B.C. where she trained to become a Psychiatric Nurse, graduating in 1957. It was at this time that Ruby met her first husband, Sydney Hadden. They were married in New Westminster, B.C. in 1959 and moved to Northern Alberta shortly afterwards. Both Ruby and Syd worked in the lumber industry, moving to various places such as Wood Buffalo Park, Embarrass Portage, Ft. Smith and High Level. During this time, Ruby embarked on the beginning of her travels abroad, visiting her relatives in Germany, Austria and Italy.

In 1966, while living in Ft. Smith, Ruby and Syd adopted their only son, Shaun. Ruby and Syd went their separate ways, and in 1976 Ruby and Shaun moved to Williams Lake, B.C. where Ruby met the love of her life, David Sherwood. They were married December 1978 and continued to live in Williams Lake where Ruby worked as a Paralegal and for Social Services. After retiring, Ruby and Dave bought a home at Quesnel Lake, where many great memories were made.

Ruby and Dave embarked on many adventures during their time together - Maui, Mexico, Portugal, many places across the U.S.A., and several trips to Eastern Canada to visit Dave's relatives. After Dave's passing in 2012, Ruby moved to the Lower Mainland, Kelowna, Vancouver Island, and finally back to Kelowna which became her final home. Ruby will be remembered for her love of travelling and desire to discover new people and new places. Ruby's final trip will take her back to Williams Lake, where she and Dave will be together again.

Ruby is pre-deceased by her brother Bob Walter (Evelyn) and leaves behind, to celebrate her life and memories, her son Shaun Hadden, her siblings Helen Walter (Pat), Trudy Freeman (Eric), Theo Walter (Marybeth), her step children Fern (Rick), Jarvis (Debbie), Danny (Debbie), Michael (Marylu), Bonnie (Roy), and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Rest in Peace Ruby, you are gone but will never be forgotten.
