A light has gone out in the world today. It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Rosaleen Mary Fletcher (nee Calderwood-Smith) on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Rosaleen was struck by a sudden illness which stole her away from us far too soon.

Rosaleen is survived by her sisters, Anne, Elsa, Kay and Moira who moved here from Rutherglen, Scotland July 9, 1968 with Rosaleen and their parents, John and Rose. She shared 46 wonderful years of her life in Canada with her dearly loved and cherished husband, Christopher.  Chris and Rosaleen brought three children into the world, Megan, Evan and Jennifer and had the joy and honour of meeting 4 grandchildren, Kai, Mackenzie, Shae and Logan.

Rosaleen shared her love of helping and caring throughout her working life, teaching, working with people with different abilities, and caring for seniors in their homes. When she wasn’t working she loved to people-watch, even creating stories and lives for those surrounding her. She loved to read, especially history, true crime, and paranormal activity stories. If she wasn’t curled up with a book, she was usually listening to classical music at high volume, and used Gilmore’s Albums on CBC as an alarm for sleeping children on a Sunday morning.

In later life her physical health slowed her down, but her energy and enthusiasm shone through while she observed the world around her.

Rosaleen will be dearly missed.

If you would like to share time and stories in remembrance of her, a Celebration of Life will be held at:

Five Rivers Crematorium: 455 2nd Ave N. Williams Lake, BC

on Saturday, October 29th from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Please join our family in celebrating a bright star that shines a little higher tonight.
