April 29, 1934 - February 22, 2024

In loving memory ~

Applications can now be made to replace the short and feisty self-proclaimed mayor of Fox Mountain.

Norman James Whyte passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024. He was born in Chilliwack, B.C. on April 29, 1934. Norm and his wife, Betty, were longtime residents of Williams Lake. Together they owned and managed Cariboo Home Furnishings and Fox Mountain Ranch. Norm's happiest days were spent out in the hayfields on his John Deere tractor or loading a bale of hay for one of his many dear customers.

Norm was predeceased by Betty in 2010 and his daughter, Deborah, in January of 2024. He is survived by his daughter Beverley (Archie De Marchi) and son-in-law Ray Getzlaf.

Affectionately known as Pa, Norm leaves his four adoring grandchildren: Christopher (Showna), Ashley (Derek), Stephanie (Justin), and Riley, and his two precious great-grandsons, Austin and Eden. Norm is survived by his sisters Mary, Lorna, and Shirley, brother Don, and his faithful dog Boo.

Thank you to Dr. Labossiere, the care team at Cariboo Memorial Hospital, Greg and Louise Pigeon, and the staff at the Williams Lake Seniors Village, who welcomed Norm so warmly and ensured his final days were met with an abundance of care and compassion.

With respect to Norm's wishes, there will be no service. A special family gathering will be held in the summer when the days are warm, and the hay is high.
