In Loving Memory ~
Norm (Carl) Reynolds was born in Foam Lake, Saskatchewan on May 5th, 1942 and died suddenly in Royal Jubilee Hospital Victoria B.C. February 12th, 2023 with his wife and many family members by his side.
Survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Leckie (Broomfield); sons Charles (Monina) Broomfield and Mike; daughter Leanne; niece/daughter Miranda (Doug); grandchildren Taryn (Philip), Mikayla, Charlize; Connor, Bradly, Eli and Austin; great-grandson Koda; brother Ken (Joan); sister Velma (Norm) Schwarz; sisters-in-law Patricia Johnston and Catholine Chilton; brothers-in-law Jim Forrest (Lois), George (Sherry) and Robin. With numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews all of whom adored "Uncle Norm".
Predeceased by his mother Elsie (Dobson) February 2021 & father Carl Reynolds September 1988; brother Ross March 2003; father-in-law Alex Broomfield July 1981 & mother-in-law Dorothy March 2009; niece/daughter Sarah Broomfield May 1999.
Norm's family moved from Saskatchewan to Port Alberni B.C. in 1956. Norm completed his Senior Matriculation and had various jobs: delivered papers, and worked on a Hydrographic ship, at M&B Pulp mill before his machinist apprenticeship in Surrey. After which he worked and lived in Logan Lake.
He worked as a machinist & millwright at Lignum LTD from 1978 -2007 when he retired. After retirement, he worked at the WL Stockyards for several years.
Norm always had a dog, cats and multiple Registered Quarter Horses, breeding and raising colts. He roped and Team Cattle Penned competitively and rode for various ranches. Beginning in 1998 Norm fabricated brass freeze bands. He and Leckie branded over 600 head of horses and numerous cattle.
Norm was an avid reader, hunter and fisherman. He went on many Pack trips throughout B.C. Fishing whenever and where ever an opportunity arose. In March 2022, he and Leckie moved to Port Alberni where he purchased a boat and went sport fishing on the ocean every chance he got.
Norm was a cowboy through and through. He tipped his hat when he met ladies, had a strong, meaningful, handshake for the men, and a gentle touch for children and animals.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Williams Lake on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. downstairs of the United Church on Huckvale Place.
A further get-together will take place in Port Alberni on May 6th, 2023 time and place to be announced.
