His mom and dad (Ruby & Leonard Slack) of Petrolia, ON and Brothers Jim (Burlington ON) & Keith (Petrolia ON) called to him from above and off he went.


Slackie shared lots of special times with us, our 60th Wedding Anniversary in May and his 89th Birthday in June of this year with his loving wife Alma and his family- daughters Joy (John) Ely of Alberta, Bonnie, and his son Billy; grandchildren David, Nicole, Dustin, Tye and Braydon; brother-in-law Keith (Lorraine) Pinchback, and nephews Michael and Denny (Tessa) Pinchback of Surrey, B.C.


He leaves behind brothers; Merlyne & family, Trent River, ON; Ron & family, ON; Ken & family, Burlington, ON, Sisters; Joy Clements & family, Chatham, ON, Shirley Smith & family, Burlington, ON and Donna Sterne & family, Petrolia, ON.


Slackie worked for many years on the PGE/BCR Railroad wearing many different hats.


In his younger days he enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, and hunting; he wasn’t above having a good party.


He was the hospital Representative for the Cariboo Shriners Club #26, looking after sick children for many years.
