Michael William Yarema

December 29, 1926 - October 6, 2011

Michael was born in Salasze, Poland and came to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1927 at 8 months old. He lived in Saskatchewan until 1946 when he went to Edmonton, Alberta and took a Diesel Mechanics course. Then he went to work in McBride, BC. When he came to see friends in Kelowna he got acquainted with Ruth Scheffler. They married in 1951 and lived in Lumby, Vernon, Kelowna and then moved to Williams Lake in 1966. Michael worked for Jacobson Brothers as a logging truck driver for many years. He retired at 61 and had a great time doing his Amateur Radio Hobby. His call letters were VE7 KLY. Michael ran the Adventist Radio Network every morning at 9 o’clock. He talked to people all over the world. Surviving him is his wife Ruth, his four children: Eleanor (Richard) Bartsch of Spokane, Washington and their sons Darren and Steven (girlfriend Mandy); Lloyd (Joan Bonlie) Yarema of Las Vegas, Nevada and their children Elise, Jessica and Dustin; Kenneth Yarema of Williams Lake and Kathleen Yarema of Vancouver. Michael has 5 grandchildren, 8 nephews and 1 niece.

Michael lived in Williams Lake for 45 years and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorial service on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on 9th and Huston. Pastor Norman Johnston officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA or ADRA Canada, 1148 King Street East, Oshawa, Ontario L1H 1H8. LaPrairie’s Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements.
