Megan Fofonoff Huska, of Vernon BC, passed away peacefully with family by her side on December 11, 2012 at the Vernon Hospice House at the age of 31. Megan was born November 13, 1981, at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake to Peter and the late Debbie Fofonoff (deceased 2001).

Megan’s first 2 years were spent on Pigeon Avenue until the family moved to Cowichan Bay, BC in 1984. Megan attended Bench Elementary School where she enjoyed field hockey, Brownies and family outings digging for clams and picking blackberries. At an early age, she was introduced into the life of a traveling sports family. As a result Megan developed a love for watching hockey and her beloved Vancouver Canucks.

In 1990, the family returned to Williams Lake where she started

grade 4 at Chilcotin Road Elementary at which time Megan made a lot of new friends. She enjoyed gymnastics at an early age. Megan attended Williams Lake Junior Secondary in 1994 becoming involved in volleyball and skiing at Mt. Timothy with her family. In 1997 Megan attended Columneetza Secondary School and later received a certificate in the Business Office Assistant Program at UCC Williams Lake Campus. Soon after, Megan obtained a position at Parker Pacific Inland Kenworth in Williams Lake.

In 2003, Megan met Justin Huska and moved to Kelowna and in 2005 bought a home in Westshore Estates along Okanagan Lake. Justin and Megan were married in Vernon on June 23, 2007. In October 2008, their daughter Sophie Faith Margaret Huska was born. Megan and Sophie were attached at the hip and had the most beautiful mother-daughter bond. Megan always viewed her family as her top priority and took part in many family functions. For many years, Megan participated and raised funds for the CIBC Run for the Cure. Megan was enthusiastic towards increasing awareness of Breast Cancer and represented many women battling the disease.

Megan is survived by her husband Justin Huska and daughter Sophie, father Peter Fofonoff and stepmother Darlene Neels, brothers Kirby Fofonoff (Robin) and Chad Fofonoff (Ashley), step-brothers Tyler Neels (Rochelle) and Ian Neels (Serena), parents-in-law Pat and Connie Huska, sisters-in-law Chrysta Huska (Linden), Camille Fawcett (Andy), Kyla Sherman (Pat), Stephanie Harrison (Gord), Jessica Kantymir (James) and many treasured nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service was held in celebration of Megan’s life on December 21, 2012 at St. Andrews United Church in Williams Lake, BC.

Megan’s family would like to express their appreciation for all the compassion, support and sincere sympathy through your phone calls, visits, cards, flowers, emails, food and donations. The community of Williams Lake has been outstanding. Megan leaves us with many fond memories and will always be in our hearts and an inspiration

to everyone she has touched.
