Our beloved Mother, Granny, and Great Granny, Martha Brummer (Krebs), journeyed peacefully to heaven, on December 7, 2018, with family at her side to see her on her way.

Martha Brummer (Krebs), journeyed peacefully to heaven, on December 7, 2018, with family at her side to see her on her way.

Martha was born in Poland in 1924 and immigrated to Canada in 1928. She grew up in Vernon, BC, where she married John Brummer in 1952 and raised her family. She and John owned and operated the Valley Bakery for a time, and Martha also worked as a sales clerk at Eaton's Department Store, and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In 2001, she moved to Williams Lake to be near family. She spent her time in Williams Lake living at Terra Ridge and Retirement Concepts and, while she was able, continued with her passions for gardening, baking, and "going to town". As she became less mobile, she was sustained by her strong faith, love for her family, her friends at Retirement Concepts, loyal visitors, and her view of the garden. We will miss the twinkle in her eye, her gentle teasing and scolding, and her wonderful Granny hugs.

Predeceased by parents Alexander and Augusta Krebs; brother Alex Krebs; husband John Brummer; and son John Brummer. Survived by daughter Reva Schick (Wayne); grandsons Dale Schick (Lore), Chip Schick (Andrea); and great grandsons Brandon, Tyler, and Noah Schick.

The family would like to thank Pastor Noel Smith for his ever-faithful spiritual care; Dr. Paul Magnuson for his kind and compassionate medical care; and the staff of Retirement Concepts, for caring for Martha in her last years and, especially, for your tender care during her last days.

A funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Williams Lake on Saturday, January 26th at 1 pm, followed by a tea at the church. An internment service will be held at a later date, in Vernon.
