Margaret Velma Gregory, age 85, passed away peacefully in Williams Lake, BC on March 9th, 2022, after a sudden downturn in health over several weeks.
Residing in Williams Lake for 50 years, Velma was a Registered Nurse for geriatric and long-term care at the former Cariboo Lodge until her retirement in 2001. She had a great love for the elderly and opened her heart and home to many, particularly those who were isolated from their loved ones.
Velma enjoyed travel, golf, volunteering with the Red Cross, and many friendships with colleagues, neighbours and members of the community.
Most of all, she loved her family, and experienced her greatest joy in her retirement years with her cherished granddaughters.
Velma is survived by loving husband Alvin Gregory of more than 59 years, son Jay Gregory, daughter Jodee (Jim) Sayle, granddaughters Zoë and Emma Sayle, and extended family members in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
She was preceded in death by eldest daughter Lori Ann, parents Fred and Mildred Lindeburgh, and brother Malcolm (Ellen) Lindeburgh.
All who dearly loved Velma will miss her kindness, humour, empathy and constant abiding love. A celebration of Velma's life will be held Monday March 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's United Church, 1000 Huckvale Pl, Williams Lake, BC. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local hospice society or a charity of your choice.
We would like to express our gratitude for the gentle compassionate care given by the palliative team at Deni House.
The family of Margaret Velma Gregory would like to extend an enormous THANK YOU to nurses Ashley, Sean, Leah and Christa from Home Health Services, Ursula, the receptionist at the Yorston Clinic, Nurse Practitioner Nic Kondratyev, Dr. Vanessa Kriek, and the staff of Deni House for their guidance, support and compassion as we navigated the final weeks of Velma's life.
