It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our much loved husband, father and grandfather Lionel David Railton.

Lionel was predeceased by his entire birth family, mother Agnes, father Lyle and brothers Meryl, Don and Wes. He is survived by his loving wife Joan, only daughter Jane Folka, her husband Craig and two granddaughters Kari and Jamie.

Lionel was very proud to tell you he was born in a grainery in Saskatchewan. He would recite and show you the coordinates written on the birth certificate, just in case you were in doubt of his story.

His life was spent in many regions of the Yukon, BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan - all working in road construction and related work. He shared his passion of the outdoors spent fishing and hunting. He lead a happy and active life always finding a “come back” or “last word” to bring a chuckle to those around him, even in his last hours he was asking for payment to take his tray away.

The family would like to thank Dr. Magnuson and the staff at Deni House along with Melissa, his Friday afternoon caregiver, for all your compassion in his last days. You all helped to make our journey in this experience the best it could be. Lionel died surrounded in love.

Our last spoken words from him were “I know”. Always loved, never forgotten. We know he is sitting with his little dog Nikki watching over us. Lionel requested there be no service.
