Lillian Oviatt passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in the presence of her family at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake on January 13, 2004 at 8:55 p.m.

Born Lillian Arbutus Myrtle Jackson in Queenstown, Alberta on February 14, 1920. She spent her younger years in South West, Alberta and then served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 until January 1946.

She then married Parley Odell Oviatt on March 10, 1946 in Banff, Alberta after which they travelled to Port Alberni on Vancouver Island where they started their family.

After three years they were heading back to Alberta when they decided to settle in Cranbrook and then later in Kimberly. There they continued to raise their family of five children.

Lillian was predeceased by Parley (Bud) on September 11, 1991, and daughter-in-law Linda, grandson Chad and granddaughter Nikki on April 29, 1992.

Lillian leaves behind four sons and one daughter, Gerry of Cranbrook, Rick of Edmonton, Dennis and Wendy of Campbell River, Bonnie of Rimbey, Alberta, and Wes and Donna of Williams Lake; along with 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 20 at 2 p.m. at the Compassionate Care Funeral Home at 180 Comer Street in Williams Lake.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Central Cariboo Hospice Palliative Care Society at 517-6th Avenue North, Williams Lake, B.C. V2G 2G8.
