Leola Nichols

April 21, 2002

Leola Murriel Fayette Nichols passed away April 21, 2002.

She was born December 6, 1910 in Ponoka, Alberta and came west in her early adult years and worked for Dr. Lyle Telford, the then mayor of Vancouver.

Leola then worked for B.C. Electric, the forerunner of B.C. Hydro, serving in the cafeteria and taking a dolly through the building selling goodies to employees.

She married Harold Salsbury. They had a son, Darral, to be a younger brother to Ralph (Sunny) Salsbury.

She later married James Edward (Eddy) Nichols and came to Williams Lake.

She worked for some time with Eddy, helping to deliver pop, and in the office of the Slumber Lodge.

During these years she took in several boarders. In the late 60s she came to work for Ray Woods and ran the cafeteria at the Williams Lake Junior Secondary until her retirement in 1975.

Leola is predeceased by her husbands, the late Harold Salsbury and the late James Edward Nichols.

Left to mourn are her son, Darral Salsbury; her step son, Ralph (Sonny) Salsbury and his daughters, Sherry Salsbury and Judy Czink and step son Ed (Dorothy) Nichols.

Leola had a fine sense of humour. She enjoyed the old hymns and responded to them in her closing days.

Leola is now in the arms of the One who loved her best, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 at the Evangelical Free Church.
