It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Kent Schalm at Royal Inland Hospital.
He dearly loved his partner of 15+ years, Teena Haines, and she loved him.
Kent also leaves to mourn, his mom, Claudia Schalm (Butch Rife), his dad, Dave Schalm (Gaby), sister, Cindy Karran (Greg), brothers, Troy Schalm (Leah), Wade Schalm (Dawn), grandparents, Bernice and Izzy Boscariol, and many aunts, uncles,cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kent was a kind, gentle and generous man. He would give you his last cigarette if he thought you needed it more than him.
All people were equal in Kent’s eyes; black, brown, white, rich, poor, he treated everyone the same.
Kent was Kent. He criticised no one and he held no grudges against those who criticised him. If you could not accept him as he was, he would just smile and instantly forgive you. Kent did not have one mean bone in his body. This was one of the many reasons why he had a large family of friends and relatives who loved him.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 19 at 2:00 pm at the Longhouse located at the Stampede Grounds.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Schizophrenia Association.
Kent will not be forgotten and he will be forever missed.
