April 8, 1946 - February 26, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Myrtle Sherwood of Williams Lake.

Karen fought a brave and heroic battle against scleroderma for many years and succumbed to the disease on February 26, 2024. Karen was diagnosed with the disease 30 years ago and was told her life expectancy was 5 to 10 years. Her strong will to live allowed her to surpass that by many years.

She leaves behind her husband, Carl Sherwood. Son Raymond (Darcie) Sherwood. Grandsons Justin, Matt and Logan. Son Martin (Glaucia) Sherwood. Brothers Harry Campbell, Howard Campbell, Sisters Eleanor Bailey, Lorraine Verhaeghe, Marjorie Sanford, Audrey Eckert, Linda Erker.

Karen was born April 8, 1946, in Edmonton, Alberta the 4th child of Tom and Lila Campbell. She and her 6 siblings were raised on a farm in Berrymoor Alberta until 1959 when a fire on the farm prompted them to move to B.C.

Thirteen-year-old Karen and her family moved to the 140 Mile House and fortuitously happened to build a house next door to the Sherwoods- where her future husband lived. Carl And Karen were married six years later on April 3, 1965, and went on to enjoy a strong and loving relationship for the next 59 years.

They raised 2 sons, who were the absolute pride and joy of their mother. Karen loved her family above all else, and she was a wonderful and doting wife, mother (mother-in-law) and grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Van der Merwe and Karen's nurses for the wonderful and compassionate care she received in her final days.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
