John James Walker

In loving memory ~
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father John James Walker. John was born June 10, 1941 in Vancouver, BC and spent a lot of his early years in the Princeton area. John is survived by his three children - Mary-Lou (Randy), Trevor (Kim) and Warren (Darelle) from his first marriage. John then met his current wife Jennie in the 1960's in Squamish, BC and they lived in the Squamish/Whistler area until they moved to Williams Lake. John and Jennie had many good friends during this time - the Costains, the Borutskis and many others.
In 1977 John and Jennie moved to Williams Lake and John worked for Alan Ilnicki Trucking for many years. Bev and Alan Ilnicki were wonderful employers and long time friends to both John and Jennie.
John was married to Jennie Walker for many years and they had their beautiful daughter Tracey who sadly passed away much too early at the age of 29. John also had two step- children John and Gayle (Ivan). John was like a father to Samantha (James), his granddaughter from Tracey, and not many days would go by without him wanting to spend time with his granddaughter Samantha. John also had many other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John loved people from all walks of life and we lovingly used to call him the "Walmart Greeter" as he used to talk to everyone and try to make an early connection - our trips downtown were not short. John loved curling, cards and dancing but mostly just sitting with good company and talking about life. John had a crazy good memory, loved old country music and could fix almost anything.
John lived his last year at the Williams Lake Seniors Village in independent living. He moved there to be close to Jennie who is suffering from alzheimers and in long term care at the same facility. They lovingly spent every day together.
John will be missed by many but especially our family and particularly our mother Jennie. Rest in Peace Dad and give love to our beautiful Tracey and many other special family and friends that have left us much too early!
As per John's wishes there will be no funeral but please join us at a Celebration of Life Saturday, October 22nd 1:00 - 5:00 at the Terra Ridge Clubhouse, 500 Wotzke Drive.
