July 20, 1949 - December 29, 2023
In Loving Memory ~
The family of John Eric Halfnights are deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing the afternoon of December 29th, 2023 at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.
John was born in Williams Lake on July 20, 1949 to Jack and Vi Halfnights.
In his younger years, John followed his dream of the cowboy lifestyle in the Chilcotin before settling into a dedicated 41-year career with the City of Williams Lake's water and sewer division. He was proud to have played such a key role in the development and maintenance of today's municipal water and sewer infrastructure while raising two remarkable sons.
During weekends and holidays, he could be found enjoying camping, hunting and fishing in the Cariboo-Chilcotin with family and friends.
Actively involved in many community organizations over his 74 years in the Lake City. John held many positions over the past 15 year at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 139. He and Edna enjoyed the camaraderie and relaxed atmosphere at the Legion where you'd often find them at the pool tables.
John is survived by his wife Edna, three sons Eric (Erin), Daryle (Trina), Darion as well as his 4 granddaughters, Kendall, Brynn, Cadence, Edyn and sister Joanne (Barry) Laird.
We would like to thank the amazing nursing staff from Cariboo Memorial Hospital. Your deep compassion for patients and family is appreciated.
We will all miss you Dad.
Please join us to celebrate John on January 17th at 2-4pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Williams Lake Branch 139.
