In Loving Memory ~
Joe has gone to do some log hauling and some fishing on the other side. He has left to join his wife, Gwen.
Joe was born in Sahtlam BC, just outside of Duncan in 1932. Fishing was his passion and the creek was half way to school, quite a bit shorter walk to fish than it was to school. Not hard to figure out where he went most days.
At 13, he went to work logging with his three older brother on Galiano Island. No school there, so he didn't think he needed to go anymore. Logging was now his life, especially driving log truck, which he did for 46 years.
Joe met his wife of 60 years, Gwen on Mayne Island, BC, while working there. Joe and Gwen had 5 children.
In 1970, they moved form Duncan to Williams Lake BC. As grandkids and great grandkids became more abundant, he soon became papa Joe to many, whether they where related, or not. He was very proud of the fact he rebuilt his Stenson airplane in his garage on 10th Ave and was able to fly around the Cariboo.
Dad loved going fishing and camping with all his buddies. When he was younger he loved riding horses, motorcycles and snowmobiling. He enjoyed many sports, but only to play them.; watching was no fun, as he put it.
He loved telling jokes and later in life, when Mum became ill, he took over the housework, his favourite cooking, being shipwreck casserole and butter tarts. Dad spent the last year and a half living at Age Care Cariboo Place. He loved his room, best view in town, and all those nice workers to look after him.
He leaves behind his children, grandkids, great grandkids and many friends he has made long the way.
