It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Dear Friend Joan Julia Railton.
Born June 13 1939 in Alberta. Joan breathed her last breath in the loving embrace of her daughter and granddaughters, in the comfort and grace of her own home as she wished early in the morning on August 7 2019.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Lionel Railton six years ago and is survived by her daughter Jane Folka, son in-law Craig Folka, their daughters Kari (Matthew) and Jamie (Doyle) her elder sister Josie McDonald and younger brother Terry Nahrebeski. As Dad says she's up there fishing with Gramps.
Joan enjoyed a very full vibrant life. Travelling all over Canada they were avid fishers and hunters spending much time in the outdoors. She always said her favorite activity of all was ice fishing and we are blessed to have so many memories of the wonderful adventures that we all shared together in a life lived so close to nature.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Dr. Magnuson and his staff for all their loving care. To each of the palliative care nurses who walked through our door for their support and compassionate hearts. To the many, many friends who loved and supported Joan and Lionel over the years and to the folks who came to see her in her final days, sharing stories and laughs reminding her how loved she has been throughout her life. Joan will be dearly missed. Her strength and love will live on forever in our hearts.
