Jim Moore

March 24, 1944 – October 10, 2021
In Loving Memory ~
The family of Jim Moore are very sad to share that on Sunday October 10th, Jim passed away in his sleep at home at the age of 77.
Jim was born in Winnipeg on March 21, 1944 but was raised on the farm in Dubuc, Saskatchewan. Growing up on the farm was something that Jim always talked about fondly, despite the hard work and tough times.
Known as “The Legend” on the job site, Jim was the go-to guy who could figure out how to fix just about anything. He built his career on being the problem solver. He was one of the lucky ones – he found his passion early in life, entering the electrical trade when he was 14 years old. He worked in his trade for nearly 60 years. He loved planning things out and building them from the ground up. In the later years of his career, the investment of time he put into his apprentices was apparent and many of them came to see Jim as an amazing mentor.
In retirement, which came in his 70s, one of Jim’s favourite pass-times was to spend time with his grandsons Aayden and Ryder – teaching them about tools and how to build things. Throughout his life, you would often find Jim with the kids, playing on the floor instead of visiting with the adults.
Jim is predeceased by his mother and father, Annie and Torger. He is survived by this loving wife of 50 years Bev, his children Kelly (Lori), Billy, Jennifer, and Aaron (Chelsy), his grandchildren, sister Jessie, Aunt Nina and Uncle Earl, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
We know that he’s now fixing someone’s radio, catching up with those who went before him, and hopefully, he’s working on tipping the scales a little for the Riders on the scoreboard this season. We know that he is now allowed to watch the games, instead of being relegated to the basement to listen to Bev’s vocal response to the play by play.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a memorial award in Jim’s name at Thompson River University to support future electricians (www.tru.ca/jimmoore).
A celebration of life will be held in the future when a gathering of the lives he touched can be held to share the stories and memories we hold dear.Obituary
