In loving memory
Jan Hanson of Williams Lake, BC, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 11, 2023, in the Cariboo Memorial Hospital. Jan was a loving wife of 53 years to Glenn Hanson and the mother to two children, Mike Hanson, and Christa (Hanson) Smith, as well as a beloved grandmother to their children and all her extended family.
Jan was born August 3, 1933, in California and graduated Gem State Academy. She worked as a secretary for the Seventh-day Adventist conference office and taught school in Hawaii, where some of her best friendships and fondest memories were built. After moving to Canada in 1968 she met Glenn Hanson, and they were married on May 24, 1971. They spent the last 53 years living every day with love, caring, and helping others. They moved to Williams Lake in 1989 where they spent their remaining wonderful years. Jan loved to volunteer and in her spare time she made hundreds, if not thousands, of quilts that she gave away with love. She was active in the local community and in her church.
Jan was loved by everyone she met which reflects the amazing and caring person she was. She leaves behind a true legacy of love and will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her. There will be a Celebration of Life for both Jan and her beloved husband Glenn, who also recently passed away, on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Cariboo Central Seventh-day Adventist Church on Woodland Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) or your local food bank.
