Jim Shiach passed away July 25 in Prince George.

Jim and his wife Shirley were married for 63 years. Shirley passed away on Feb. 11, 2016. Jim was born in Neilburg, Saskatchewan, the oldest of 7 children. Jim met Shirley in Armstrong BC, where they married and started a family. They moved to Salmon Arm for a bit, then spent one year in Horsefly where Jim worked as a millwright at the sawmill beside the lake. When the sawmill relocated to Williams Lake we all moved into town. Jim did millwright work at the Jacobson Bros. Sawmill and ran the prefab shop for some years until he retired. He found his passion doing wood-work. Starting with burl tables and clocks, and then switching to Intarsia. He enjoyed doing that for many years.

His other passion was his garden and all the flowers in the yard. If you could not find him in his shop, you just had to look in the greenhouse where he always had tomatoes and cucumbers growing. Jim also loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was never a dull moment for them when they were with grandad. Jim always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye when he spent time with them.

Jim is survived by his children Gladys (Ron), Bob (Donna), Gordon (Colleen), Linda (Dwight), 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held for him next spring.
