John “Jack” Sandberg

April 1, 1934 to September 18, 2011

Born in Elk Lake, Ontario, Jack passed away peacefully at Cariboo Memorial Hospital, in Williams Lake on September 18 at the age of 77 years.

Predeceased by his parents Jack Sr. and Rosa Sandberg, his son-in-law Ted and his grand-daughter Jocelyn, Jack is survived by his loving wife Edna, children Den (Margi), Mike (Deb), Diana (Dan), Melanie (Hermel), Debbie, June (Ted), Cindy (Kumar), Doreen (Bill), his 12 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his sister, Louella, his brother Gerry and nephews and nieces.

A veteran of 24 years’ service in the Armed Forces, the friendships and bonds he formed were to last a lifetime. And while distances may have separated them, his buddies were never far away.

In retirement Jack’s focus was his family and his lifelong passion for his piece of heaven in the Chilcotin. A conversation about either immediately brought a sparkle to his eyes and an unbridled energy that was simply contagious.

Blessed with the ability to put a smile on the face and in the heart of anyone he met, Jack will continue to be loved by everyone who knew him. He gave to all the gift of laughter. And what greater legacy can a man offer to those he loved. With every smile, he’s always with us.

Friends and family will gather in celebration of Jack’s life on October 8th, 2011 from 1 - 3 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Williams Lake.
