In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Al Garlinge on the evening of October 6th, 2021 at the age of 83 years. He was born on March 27, 1938 in Summerland, BC.
Al spent his childhood and young adulthood growing up in the Okanagan and lived mostly in Peachland where he worked in fruit orchards and in logging. Al's love of nature and the outdoors led him to a career with the Ministry of Forests. He worked with the Ministry in a variety of capacities ranging from an Assistant Forest Ranger to becoming a Regional Finance Manager.
Al's career spanned over 30 years and he worked all over the province beginning in Birch Island, Horsefly, Vernon, Kamloops and finally retiring in Williams Lake. He became an active member of the Williams Lake Lions Club where he enjoyed volunteering and giving back to the community.
Al spent his life working, living, and loving the outdoors. He always believed the closest to God you could ever get was not a church, but in the mountains and that any question you had in life, the answer could be found in nature.
His favourite times were when he was surrounded by family, and his favourite spot in Cariboo was Sucker Point on Quesnel Lake.
Al is predeceased by his brother, Gordon and is survived by his loving wife Judy, of 56 years; daughter Sherrill Elfstrom; son Ed (Kate) Garlinge, and his four grandsons
Nick and Jordan Elfsrom, and Cullen and Stuart Garlinge.
His generous and loving spirit will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to share a part of their life with him.
A service will be announced at a later date.
