Helen May Barr

April 22, 2017

September 30, 1930 ~ April 22, 2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Helen May Barr on April 22nd, 2017. She was born September 30th, 1930 - A daughter, a sister, a wife, a mother, a mother-in-law, an aunt, and to most she was a Nana. NANA BARR!

Our family would like to express our sincere thanks for all the support and sympathy we received from Helen’s many friends.

We all have our memories and stories to remember and she will always have a special place within our hearts.

Besides caring for Art and the children, Helen was an active volunteer. In her early years, while living on Vancouver Island, Helen was a Cub Leader.

The Girl Guides of Canada were very fortunate to have Helen as a member, beginning in Williams Lake and lasting 35 years. Helen loved her Brownies, while making crafts with them, taking them to camp at Tyee Lake, selling Guide cookies and checking for clean fingernails.  Helen started a Sparks unit in 1988, the first year that Sparks were introduced in Canada. Dozens of camps enjoyed the meals that Nana Barr supervised.

We will be having a celebration of her life on June 10th 2017, at 1pm at Helen and Art Barr’s home - Please come and share your memories and have a cup of tea.

Your condolences will be approved within one business day. You will need a valid Facebook account. Please email us if you have any questions.
