Jun 14, 1924 - Jan 24, 2018
Helen Mary Lee was born at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 1924 to Frank Lynton Lee and Margot Yolande Lee at their home, Lynton Farm, Robbins Range, Barnhart Vale, BC.  She was assisted into the world by Dr. J. S. Burris and was a little sister for John Wilkinson Lee.

Helen was educated in Kamloops, BC and started her career in retailing there.  She owned businesses in Williams Lake, first of all on her own, then in partnership with her parents.  When all the family holdings had been sold, she moved to Summerland in June 1972 to join her parents who had retired there in February of that year.  In 1973, she purchased property and had the Lee building constructed to the plan designed by her father.  She established Leisure Lifestyles - a business she loved.  She always relished the threads she wore in the fabric of fashion and home decor retailing throughout the province.

Adding great pleasure and happiness to her life were her sports of tennis and badminton and hiking the alpine outdoors.  She had many hobbies, especially reading, gardening, and listening to classical music;  all these activities broadened and enriched her life.

Helen passed away January 24, 2018.  She was predeceased by her father in 1973, by her mother (who had been her helpmate and mentor in Leisure Lifestyles for 14 years) in 1989, as well as by her friend of 68 years, Juanita Muriel Davis of Kamloops and Victoria in 1998.

She is survived by her nieces Mary Austin, Linda Sanger, Wendy Slavin, Diane Pastor, and Barbara Grimmer; and loving cousins in Canada, England, and the USA; also by her much loved staff in Summerland and many wonderful friends in Summerland and throughout BC.

A service for the celebration of Helen's life will be held at St. Stephen Anglican Church, 9311 Prairie Valley Rd., Summerland, BC on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.

Helen's body has been contributed to the University of British Columbia for the advancement of medicine through anatomical study.  Should anyone wish to make a memorial donation, suggestions are BC SPCA South Okanagan/Similkameen, 2200 Dartmouth Dr., Penticton, BC V2A 4C2 or Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, 9048 Stormont Ave., Burnaby, BC V3N 4G6.
