June 9, 1951 - May 3, 2019
Helen Carolyn Klassen (Carly) left us suddenly on May 3, 2019. Carly is survived by her sisters Marguerite (Herb) Rempel, Betty (Willy) Frischbutter, Elsie Schmidt, Hertha (Abe) Nikkel. She was predeceased by her parents Isaac and Margaret Klassen, two brothers, Henry and Peter Klassen, her two sisters Susie Jowett and Katy Loewen.
Carly lived on the family farm in southern Manitoba, until the family moved to Winnipeg in December 1958. After high school, Carly worked in Winnipeg at various jobs. In 1972, she travelled to Australia, working her way around the country, while experiencing a new culture.
Carly then left Winnipeg and moved to Edmonton. She studied Special Education at the University of Alberta and University of Calgary. Her first teaching job was in northern Alberta and a few years later in 1988, she moved to Williams Lake. Here she taught elementary, middle, and high school. The last years of her career she taught at the Youth at Nenqayni Wellness Center and retired in June 2013.
Through all of this her love for animals and her special pets were her companions. After retiring she volunteered at Elder College, and now the last few years she was active in her church.
Service will be held on Tuesday May 21, 2019 3 pm at Cariboo Community Church 35 Oliver St. Williams Lake (across from New World Coffee and Tea House). Donations to Cariboo Community Church are requested in lieu of flowers.
