It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gunter Schwarzer on July 31, 2018, at the age of 83, following a brief battle with cancer.
Gunther was predeceased by his wife Maria, on March 24, 2016. He is survived by his sisters Anneliese Schneemann and Brigitte Lampe, both of Germany, and by many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Germany.
In 1953, at 18 years of age, Gunter came to Canada, as a carpenter. He worked in Regina for approximately 10 years, and in the Vancouver area until his move to Williams Lake in 1978. He and his partner started the business "Allcraft Kitchens En' Counters", which continues to operate today. Gunter worked hard during his many years in the business, and he made numerous friends throughout his lifetime.
Following the sale of the business, Gunter spent many years working at Silvertip Lodge on Quesnel Lake, where he made lifelong friendships with the guests who returned, year after year, to enjoy the beauty of the lake, and the hospitality the Lodge offered.
Gunter will be sadly missed by all who knew him, and especially by his dear friend Doris Zilliken.
As per Gunter's wishes, there will be no service. A gathering of friends will be held at a later date.
