Gordon Thomas Harty

December 10, 2016

December 4, 1921 - December 10, 2016

Gordon passed away peacefully in The Residence in Mission (TRIM) at the age of 95.

He leaves behind his loving family; Gordon (Dorothy) Harty, Mike (Fran) Harty, Pat (Rena) Harty, Heather (Shuster) Johnston, Sean (Zena) Harty, and Fred Harty, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, one brother George, two sisters Dorothy and Helen and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Gordon was born in a family of 11 in Instow, Saskatchewan. He lived on a grain farm until he enlisted in the Army in World War II.

In 1944 he married the love of his life, Isabel Sharpe and resided in Pitt Meadows until 1976, later moving to Williams Lake, Chilliwack and then Mission. He tried his hand at several jobs, starting in the Pitt Meadows peat bog, BC Corrections and logging camp. He spent many happy years driving his logging truck in Pitt Lake until his move to Williams Lake where he became a professional painter.

He was an ardent baseball fan and gardener, and loved the outdoors - fishing and hunting the Upper Pitt River. Most of all he will be remembered for his love and support of family, leaving them with a legacy of memories.

He was predeceased by his parents, five brothers and sisters, and beloved wife, Isabel, and son, Douglas. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed - the true measure of a life well lived.

Our special thanks to Dr. Peter Frew, staff and volunteers

at the Cedarbrooke Chateau and TRIM. A family mass will

be held in lieu of a funeral service.
