The family of Gordon Cheek is saddened to announce his passing June 24, 2016 at the age of 87.

He was predeceased by Doreen, his wife of 64 years, his parents Oscar and Mary and older brother Clifford. He will be greatly missed by his three sons, Brent, Bruce (Lorraine), Jeff (Pat), and daughter Loreen (Mike) Williston. He was a role model to his ten grandchildren and their spouses. His eleven great grandchildren always brought a smile to his face.

Gordon was born in Trochu, Alberta and moved to the Chilliwack area as a youngster. He married his high school sweetheart in 1947 and he and Doreen lived in Chilliwack until the late 60’s. They moved to Williams Lake in the early 70’s after a short stay in Smithers and Houston.

Gordon worked in construction for many years building homes in the Williams Lake area for Gibraltar Mine employees in the 70’s. He mentored and enjoyed working with the Alkali Lake Indian Band and also worked for the B.C. Forest Service.

Gordon loved hunting and fishing but his true passion was

working with horses and his many riding trips into the mountains.

The family would like to thank Dr. Fedor who went above and beyond to keep Gord in his home. A special thank you to the Home Care support staff and the second floor nurses at Cariboo Memorial who treated Dad so well during his many visits.

There will be a family gathering to honour our special Papa Cheek later this summer.
